Dental Tips
Do you have chronic bad breath?
Try brushing your tongue gently twice
a day and maintain good flossing habits.
Don't
have time to brush after lunch?
Eat an apple and rinse your mouth with
water.
Do
you get headaches, especially in the morning?
Do they get worse when you are under
a lot of stress?
You could be clenching and grinding your teeth while asleep.
There are different therapies that can free you from this
pain. The first step is to contact your dentist.
HELPFUL HINT:
Massage your jaw joint while in a hot shower.
Do
you eat sticky foods (like raisins) and drink lots of fruit
juice?
Although this sounds like a healthy
snack, it may mean more cavities. Raisins are high in sugar,
and when they get stuck in your teeth, there is a much higher
incidence of cavity formation. Fruit juice is also very
high in sugar and constant consumption can be a problem.
Don't be afraid to enjoy these foods and drinks; just enjoy
them in moderation.

What is the best kind of toothbrush to use?
A soft brush with the ADA seal on the
back of the package.
How often should I get a new toothbrush?
Every 3-4 months or whenever the edges
get frayed.
What is the best way to brush my
teeth?
Small circular motions around all surfaces
of the teeth. You should hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree
angle to your gums. You should brush for a minimum of three
full minutes. Brushing too hard or too often can cause gum
problems.
How important is flossing?
Flossing is an integral part of good
oral hygiene. Food gets trapped between teeth, and the toothbrush
can't remove it. Over time, this can lead to cavities and
bad breath. Improper flossing techniques can cause damage
to your gums. Consult your dentist about good flossing habits.
